Fast wireless charging option on your phone is missing? Top 3 solutions to fix it.
Part 1. If You Use a Qi Wireless Charger, Fix Wireless Charger Not Working Issues:
Try these solutions below to troubleshoot the wireless charger not working problems, applying to all brands, including Chevrolet, Mophie, Fantasy, Belkin, Samsung, Ravpower, Yootech, Jetech, Honeycomb, Nanami, Ailun ,Zens, AT&T, EFM, 2017 Silverado, MGC, Verizon, Cadillac XT5, 2019 ram 1500, Ventev, DOOGEE s60, Ailun, and Audi.
1. Make Sure the Wireless Charger is Connected Correctly to Power
Use the original power adapter and the USB cable that come with the charger (or recommended by the manufacturer) to get power supply to the charger. Make sure both the adapter and the cable are not defective.
If the wireless charger is connected to power supply correctly, the LED indicators will light up. (The LED indicators will be in a color that tells you it’s on; color may vary in different brands.)
Note that lower power can also cause the wireless charger not working or charging slow. For example, if you charge the wireless charger with low power like 5V/1A or 5V/0.7A, you probably can’t get full charge on your phone or it will take longer time than normal.
To successfully charge your phone with the wireless charging pad or stand, place it on a level surface or other location recommended by the manufacturer.
2. Place Your Phone on the Right Location of the Wireless Charger
Make sure your phone is placed on the exact center of the charger pad or fully inserted into the charging pocket, with the display facing up.
If your phone has been turned off, you’d better turn it on for successful wireless charging.
When you put the cell phone on to the charger and the charger’s indicator is not on, remove the phone and wait about three seconds before you place it back on the charger.
3.Remove Objects Between Your Phone and the Charger
If you use a case for the phone, remove objects before charging or make sure there is no object between the back of your phone and the charging pad. Magnetic mounts and magnetic cases should be avoided because they might reduce the performance of charging.
If this does not help, take off the case – and this is only for iPhone 8 or other smartphones that feature integrated wireless charging.
For those that don’t have this feature and need to use after-market gadgets for wireless charging, like iPhone 6, and iPhone 7, try the other wireless charging solutions (for iPhone 6/6S click this, and for iPhone 7/7 Plus click here).
4. Cool Your Cell Phone and the Charging Pad
Your phone getting warm is normal during wireless charging. But if it gets overheating, it will damage the battery. So in order to extend the lifespan of the battery, the software in your smartphone will stop charging when the phone is too warm.
Therefore, you will see your phone stops charging at 80% sometimes.
To solve this issue and get your pone fully charged, you need to cool your phone and the charger first.
You can move them to a cooler location, or try to close all apps that are running on your phone.
Here are top 10 solutions to prevent and solve overheating: Phone Overheating on Wireless Charger – Why and Top 10 Solutions.
5. Turn Off Vibration
If your phone is on the vibration mode and gets a lot of notifications, it might shift position, which can cause the charger to stop charging for your phone.
Turn on the Do Not Disturb mode if you’re in this case.
6. Restart or Hard Reset Your Phone
Restarting your smartphone will always help, because it will shut down all the software, all the progress and even all the conflicts that might cause the wireless charging not working issue.
If a restart is not working, try a hard reset.
Here is the example of how to hard reset an iPhone 7:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time for at least 12 seconds. You will see the Apple logo. Then release the buttons.
7. Update the Software
A software issue could affect the wireless charging, making it slower or not charging. Sometimes you might see black screen or white screen while charging, or your phone is frozen.
Update your phone to fix this issues.
Take iPhone as the example and here is how to do an update:
Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
8. Try Another Wireless Charging Solution
If all the methods above are not workable for your phone, chances are that your wireless charger is broken. Use another wireless charging pad or use a battery case for fast wireless charging then.
We’ve tested 30+ wireless chargers for wireless charging, and listed the top ones. Check the whole list and don’t miss them in the coming black Friday (or you can buy one now).

2. Check If the Battery Case Has Juice
The battery case needs to have juice before it can charge your phone.
Make sure you’ve got it charged and have enough battery juice for your phone.
You can use the LED indications on the battery case to see the juice volume: one indicates less than 25% power, two 26%-50%, three 51%-75%, and four 76%-100%.
3. Press the Power Button on the Battery Case
Most of the battery cases in the market do not feature automatic charging. That means you need to manually press the power button if you need to charge your phone with the case.
Some battery cases need one short press while others may need a 3-second press.
4. Remove and Reattach the Case
The battery case will not charge your phone if the connector is not well inserted or connected. You can try to take off the battery case and slip it on again.
Some battery case connectors are easily broken, so be careful and gentle enough when you’re doing this step.
5. Make Sure There Is No Object Between the Case and the Phone
Any object between the battery case and the phone may cause bad performance during charging. Do not put any cards, papers, money, or other objects into the case.
6. Remove Any Debris from the Charging Port of the Phone
A dirty charging port will cause bad connections between the case connector and the phone.
Remove any debris from the phone’s charging port and reattach the battery case for wireless charging.
7. Restart or Hard Reset Your Phone
A restart or a hard reset will shut down all the software, all the progress and even all the conflicts that might cause the wireless charging not working issue.
Here is the example of how to hard reset an iPhone 7:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time for at least 12 seconds. You will see the Apple logo. Then release the buttons.

Nice post about wireless charging not working, Thanks for sharing information.
Glad it helped you.
One of my Yootech wireless chargers is not working. I’ve tried plugging it into different USB ports with no success. However, if I use the power cord from my other wireless charger, same as the non-working one, it works fine. Therefore, my supposition is that the cord is defective. How can I get a replacement cord?
Cables fail more than you think. It’s one of the most common issues that cause wireless chargers not working. We’ve covered this in the previous post: All Workable Solutions for Samsung Wireless Charger not Charging – I think the cases in this post apply to any wireless charger.
Some sellers offer free replacement for the accessories of the wireless chargers. You can try to contact the seller. Or you can buy a new one at a local store or buy one at Amazon.
My qi wireless charger will turn on, indicator lights and all, then after about 20 seconds it powers off, ive tried different cords, the hole shebang, ive even taken it apart to make sure there’s nothing physically wrong inside, any ideas? Please help! I just don’t get why itll power up for a short time, then nothing? Help!! Thanks in advance!
Have you ever checked the power adapter? Make sure both the adapter and the cables you’ve tried are not defective. Lower power might also cause this issue. If you’ve put your phone on the wireless charger after it’s connected to power supply, and then you saw this issue, you may check this post for the reasons and solutions: Wireless Charger Not Charging All the Way.
I’ve tried different cords different Outlets different power adapters everything I just can’t get the lights to stay on for more than 15 to 20 second , but even when the lights are on the phone will not wirelessly charge any other suggestions? I’ve looked everywhere , and like I said before I even have the thing taken apart right now check for physical damage oh, anything I could try while I have it open and have its guts exposed?
I have an LG v40 and bought a Belkin charger that is supposed to be compatible. I put the phone on the cradle while the phone is on and nothing happens.
I put the phone turned off on the cradle, the phone automatically turns on, charges for a second, then stops charging.
Any thoughts?
