Apple iPhone 8 supports Qi wireless charging and you can use a fast wireless charger to charge it at up to 7.5W fast charging speed. But in some cases your wireless charger is not working on iPhone 8 due to some errors.
If your wireless charger is not working on iPhone 8, such as no response when placing the iPhone 8 onto the charger, charging stops after a few seconds/minutes, or slow charging, you can try the top 20 solutions below to fix it.
Solution 1. Restart Your iPhone 8
Inner conflicts from the iPhone 8 may cause your wireless charger not charging correctly. A restart on the iPhone 8 is the first important step you can try to successfully fix this issue.
To restart the iPhone 8, press and quickly release the Volume up button, then press and quickly release the Volume down button, and next press and hold the Side button for about 8-10 seconds until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
A regular restart on iPhone 8 is also a very good habit to keep the phone at the best performance.
Solution 2. Reset the Wireless Charger
Some wireless chargers have inner conflicts now and then. Doing a reset can shut down all the inner conflicts that may stop wireless charging on your iPhone 8.
To do a reset, unplug and replug the cable from the wireless charger. See more in Reset the Wireless Charger When It’s Not Working to Charge Your Phone.
Solution 3. Disable the Optimized Battery Charging Feature
If your iPhone 8 has the latest iOS software version and Optimized Battery Charging is enabled, sometimes the iPhone won’t charge on a wireless charger due to that feature, especially when the iPhone 8 battery gets hot.
You can try to disable this feature and then place your iPhone 8 on the wireless charger to get it charged again.
To disable the Optimized Battery Charging feature, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health on your iPhone, and then tap the slider behind “Optimized Battery Charging” to make it gray.
Solution 4. Align the Wireless Charging Components
Wireless charging coils from the iPhone 8 and the wireless charger may not line up correctly when you place the phone onto the charger. And this is one of the most common causes for wireless chargers not working on iPhone 8.
Some wireless chargers do take you a bit to find the sweet spot.
To solve this, move the iPhone 8 a bit to find the right charging spot on your wireless charger. It may take you a while if you use a low quality wireless charger.
Solution 5. Replace the USB Cable
Cables fail more than you think. A faulty cable is one of the most common causes of wireless chargers not working on iPhone 8. Find another workable USB cable and replace the old one.
Solution 6. Use Another AC Power Adapter
Same to the power adapter.

Solution 7. Update iOS to the Latest Version
iOS bugs are one of the most common issues that cause iPhone 8 wireless charging not working.
The permanent solution in this case is to update the iOS version to the latest one. Go to Settings > General > Software Update. If there is a new version, download and update.
Solution 8. Remove the Case and Any Other Foreign Object
Some materials of the phone case may interfere with Qi wireless charging process. And some wireless chargers (in our test) did not work pretty well with cases. Take off the case if there is any and put the iPhone 8 again onto the exact center of the wireless charger.
Do not put any other foreign object between the iPhone and the wireless charger.
Solution 9. Uninstall Apps That Have Bugs or Conflicts
Sometimes some apps on the iPhone 8 may stop wireless charging, especially those with bugs or conflicts.
You can try to uninstall the apps that you recently installed, restart the iPhone, and then place it again on the wireless charger to see if the problem could be solved.
Solution 10. Turn Off the Vibration Mode
Vibration mode could be the cause of your wireless charger not working with iPhone 8. When the phone gets too many notifications in the vibration mode, it may shift position, making the wireless charging coils not lining up.
Turn off the vibration mode to check if the wireless charger can successfully charge iPhone 8.
Solution 11. Fix the Overheating Problem
If the iPhone 8 or the wireless charger gets too hot, the wireless charging process would stop. Move the devices to another place and cool them down, or wait until the temperature goes down.
To avoid the overheating problem, the best way is to use a high quality wireless charger.
Solution 12. Check If It’s Connecting to A Sufficient Power Supply
Low wattage or wrong cabling could also cause your wireless charger not working with iPhone 8. Make sure the wireless charger is connecting to a sufficient power supply.
Solution 13. Charge on Safe Mode
Charging iPhone 8 on safe mode is another workable method to fix your wireless charger not working.
1. Turn the iPhone 8 off.
2. Once the iPhone 8 is completely off, turn it on by holding down the power button.
3. Once the iPhone 8 lights up, hold down the volume down button until the Apple logo appears.
4. When the iPhone 8 has booted, it will be in the Safe Mode.
5. Place the iPhone 8 onto the wireless charger to get it charged.
Solution 14. Reset All Settings
Installing new apps, updates or customizing your iPhone settings may cause the wireless charging relevant settings not being configured properly, which may cause iPhone 8 not working with your wireless charger.
Note: A reset on the settings will erase all customized options. It won’t remove any saved data and apps on the phone.
To reset all settings:
1. Tap Settings from the Home screen.
2. Tap General.
3. Scroll down and tap Reset.
4. Select Reset All Settings option.
5. Enter your iPhone 8 passcode if prompted.
6. Confirm all settings reset.
Wait until the reset is finished. Your phone will restart after the reset.
Solution 15. Use Another High Quality Wireless Charger
We’ve tested many wireless chargers (more than 35). To be honest, some did not work well with iPhone 8 as advertised. You need to pick out a high quality one. We recommend Yootech, Anker, Samsung, CHOETECH and Seneo, which are the top ones in the industry.
