I am the one who needs to wirelessly charge smartphones overnight. And I believe there are many who have the need.
So is it safe to leave the phone on wireless charger overnight?
Yes, it’s absolutely safe to leave your phone on wireless charger overnight, but you need a high quality wireless charger.
We’ve done many tests on wirelessly charging phones for a whole day or overnight, and for these 2 years’ tests, we haven’t found any related issue or harm to the phones due to long-time charge. See our previous post: Do Wireless Chargers Stop Charging When Full?
Digital Trends also have published articles stated that it’s OK to leave phones on wireless charger overnight:
“It’s not possible to exceed these limits by leaving your phone on the wireless charging pad for too long, or by leaving it plugged in overnight. You also can’t drain the cell beyond the lower cut off limit dictated by the manufacturer. These limits don’t distinguish between power sources.”
“It doesn’t matter if you have a wireless or wired charger.”
“You won’t be able to overcharge or over-discharge a cell.”
But the very important thing you need to keep in mind is that you should use a high quality wireless charger to charge your phone overnight.
Low quality wireless chargers may cause overheating which would damage the phone battery.
To be exact, it’s safe to leave your iPhone and Android phones wirelessly charged on wireless chargers overnight. It’s just the same to the wired charge when you plug in your phone.
