You don’t need to go to settings to set something up to enable the wireless charging.

Galaxy S6 Fast Wireless Charging

Though Wireless Fast Charge is not compatible with Galaxy S6, you can still make the phone charge fast on a wireless charger at the regular speed.

How to Select a Best Wireless Charger for Galaxy S6 Wireless Charging

Generally, a wireless charger is universal, which means it can work with almost all wireless charging compatible smartphones, including the Galaxy S6. To select a best wireless charger for your Galaxy S6, you need to take these factors into consideration.

Qi certificated. The Qi technology has been much more developed, compared to other types of wireless charging. You have a lot of options to choose from, with attractive prices. Always choose a Qi certificated wireless charger for Galaxy S6 or for other smartphone.

Fast wireless charging mode supported. A fast wireless charger generally has 2 or 3 charging modes – 10W fast charging mode, 7.5W fast charging mode and 5W standard charging mode. This allows you not only to charge your Galaxy S6 with the 5W standard charging mode, but also to charge other smartphones at different charging speeds. You don’t need to buy another wireless charger for different phones.

Slim or small size. A slim wireless charger won’t take up space. Most importantly, it’s much more centered so every time you put your phone onto it, the phone and the charger can line up immediately and correctly. This reduces lots of wireless charging errors.

Safe. A high quality wireless charger should have its own security system to prevent overcharge, over-current, over-voltage, overheating, and short circuit.

Brand. When it comes to high tech gadgets, always select a reputable brand, which has mature technology, and perfect after-sales service.

Does wireless charging work with a case on Galaxy s6?

Many wireless chargers are case-friendly and can support up to 4mm or 5mm thickness. But you need to make sure the phone’s back (or case) is not attached with any iron, metal, coins, IC Cards, bank cards, magnetic absorbers and other metal objects in the charging detective area.

Other Method for Galaxy S6 Wireless Charging

There is one other way for Galaxy S6 wireless charging – use a battery case.

The key point for this Galaxy S6 wireless charging method is “wireless”. The phone does not need to connect to a cable and a wall power supply.

No outlets, no cables, and no adapters.

And that is the real “wireless” way.

This benefits you a lot, especially when you are travelling, camping or on the go where outlets are not reachable. You can charge the Galaxy S6 wirelessly at any time and at anywhere.

The only downside is that charging is a bit slower than the wired charging.

Many high quality wireless charging battery cases will take about 2 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge the Galaxy S6.

Below are the best wireless charging battery cases for Galaxy S6.

  • Alpatronix Galaxy S6 battery case – 3500mAh
  • PowerBear Sumsung Galaxy S6 battery case – 3500mAh
  • RUXELY Galaxy S6 battery case – 4200mAh
  • Mophie Sumsung Galaxy S6 battery case – 3300mAh

Galaxy S6 Wireless Charging Not Working

In some cases, the Galaxy S6 wireless charging won’t work. Placed the Galaxy S6 phone onto the charging pad, nothing happened. Or it started charging at the beginning but the wireless charging paused then.

You can try the tips blow to solve the wireless charging not working issue.

1. Replace the phone onto the charger

Make sure you put the phone onto the exact center of the wireless charging pad or stand. There are blind spots on every wireless charger. The exact center is the effective area for the phone and the charger to line up correctly for wireless charging.

2. Restart the charger

An inner conflict in the wireless charger would stop the Galaxy S6 phone wireless charging. A restart will help shut down the conflict. To restart the wireless charger, simply unplug and replug the cable.

3. Close or open the Daydream feature

In same cases the Daydream feature would have impact on the wireless charging. You can try to turn it on or off to see if the issue can be solved. Go to Settings > Display > Daydream, touch the switch to turn Daydream on or off.

4. Restart the Galaxy S6

An inner conflict in the phone may also stop the phone wireless charging. Restart the phone and place it onto the wireless charger to see if the problem can be solved.

5. Update apps, clear cached partition and reboot

According to Samsung official support, you can:

Update the apps to the latest version, clear the cached partition of your device: To do this you will power down the device and upon start up you will hold the volume up, home, and power keys until the device powers on into a boot mode. Once there you will use the Volume keys to navigate to the wipe cache partition option. You will then use the power key to select this. This will delete only temporary files used by the device and should not delete any saved data. Once this is complete. You will navigate to the reboot system option and use the power button to select this.

6. Make sure the phone has been updated to the latest version

An update can solve many issues, including the wireless charging not working error. Go to settings and check for a version update.

7. Cool your phone and the wireless charger

Samsung says the phone and the charger may become hot when using wireless or fast charging. This does not affect the phone’s lifespan or performance and is in the phone’s normal range of operation.

However, getting to warm will do harm to the battery, and the software will stop wireless charging automatically. That’s why sometimes you find the phone stops at 70% or 80%.

Move the phone and the wireless charger to another place, or find something to cool both the devices, or just wait until the temperature goes down.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 and a Samsung Wireless Charger with cooling fan as sold right now by Best Buy where I bought it. With the Otter Box cover on the phone, the phone signals that wireless charging is taking place but in actual fact it is not. Battery life continues to decrease. Removing the Otter Box fixes the problem and the phone charges as expected.
Various web sites say that the Otter Box is compatible with wireless charging but it does not appear to be. Can you please recommend a phone case that is compatible with wireless charging .
    Thanks Jake
